Krafton Announces Battlegrounds Mobile India Classic Updates as Fans Demand Fix for Hackers, iOS Version

With Battlegrounds Mobile now officially available in India, Krafton took to Facebook to reveal a host of classic updates to the game — which is essentially PUBG Mobile for the country. These include map areas, improved weapon handling, new guns, and more for the Android version of the game that's available right now on the Google Play Store. Here's what you need to know.

Battlegrounds Mobile India Classic Updates — Full List
  • UI and Graphics Improvements: updated weapon expression, tripartition screen, layout/sensitivity sharing feature.
  • Improvements to Cheer Park: Updated Training Ground, Crush Islets, Quick Draw Zone.
  • New Weapons and Items: M1014 Semi-Automatic Shotgun, FAMAS, Spike Trap, Mosin Nagant Sniper Rifle
  • Upgraded Battle Experience: Throw Melee Weapon, Select Waypoints, Over the Shoulder
  • New Arena Map: Hangar
  • New Map Karakin
  • New Vehicles: Coupe RB (available in Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, Livik) and Motor Glider (available in Erangel and Miramar)
  • Now keep in mind that most of these updates aren't particularly new. Rather they're present on PUBG Mobile too as well as the BGMI Early Access version. It's quite likely that Krafton decided to post about it to ensure its community knows its getting an experience on par with the rest of the world.

However a cursory glance through the comments suggests fans are far from pleased.

"Please add ban-pan feature In BGMI as soon as possible. Please ban hackers," reads one comment.

"You also forgot to mention new hackers," says another.

"Ban the hackers first. Hackers are coming in every classic match. This game is trash," claims yet another commenter.

"Do something about cheaters who do pak file modifications patch. No recoil, White body, no smoke, no grass. 90% of players are cheaters. I stopped playing the game. I used to play since season 1. But now I am ashamed of you BGMI," says one player.

We won't be surprised to see these issues fixed considering how stringent Krafton is in other territories. In fact, it's in Krafton's best interests to have Battlegrounds Mobile India free from cheaters and hackers if it wants its esports ambitions to come to life.

Fans Demand Battlegrounds Mobile iOS Release Date

Aside from that there are a litany of complaints regarding the lack of an iOS version.

"Posting unnecessary posts, kindly work on iOS, Krafton has proved failure at launching the game on iOS," says one fan.

"When will the iOS game come out?", asks another.

According to Krafton however, a release date is in the works.

“We will keep our fans informed on further developments,” reads a post on the company’s site. “New updates will be released on our official website and social networks, so please stay tuned for further news.”

Those familiar with the company’s plans tell IGN India that an iOS version is crucial. Reason being: while a bulk of Battlegrounds Mobile India’s userbase is expected on Android, the iOS version tends to bring in paying players.

Sources tell us that Apple is hesitant to allow Krafton to launch the game on the App Store and Google Play respectively due to the controversial nature of the app. IGN India has repeatedly reported that government intervention, if any would be directed at intermediaries which in this case would be Apple and Google.

IGN India reached out to Apple for comment when the game was announced regarding its approval and are yet to get a response.
